Mounting springs and locks is a special art for highly skilled craftsmen who assembles the parts and punches, then mills and hardens the spring and lock, and then finally grinds the pieces to fit a specific knife. Solid nickel and brass bolsters are designed to keep the fingers away from the blade edge. The beveled PUMA clip-point is designed to maximize strength while making it easier to get a superb edge.
